Gully Flood Monitor

IoT-enabled Gully Flood Monitor

In order to detect potential localized flooding on city streets before damage to property happens, it is necessary to know when a gully/drain is full before water spills out onto the pavement.  Telemonitron has developed a sensor that can be attached (by standard metal bands) to the underside of the grating that covers the gully. If this sensor detects the presence of rising water, it sends a signal over the IoT network to the cloud, after which it is processed and delivered to maintenance operators who can despatch a team to take necessary action.

The monitor also contains the smarts to detect when the grating is opened, meaning that maintenance operations can be recorded automatically. In addition, any unauthorised entry to the gully can be detected. An on-board light sensor, coupled with cloud-side intelligence, also helps to determine if there are obstructions above the gully, such as a heap of leaves.

The gully monitor also works as a general flood monitor.

Protect your streets and properties with Telemonitron’s state-of-the-art gully monitor – because being forewarned is being forearmed.

Gullies become blocked when leaves and other debris clog up drainage channels. In heavy rain, blocked gullies cannot drain and therefore local flooding can happen. The monitor detects this situation as soon as it occurs, allowing time to unblock the gully. Flooding can also happen due to backfilling from the drainage system. This situation is also detected.
