Power
Smart Meter (with user-configurable endpoint)
DIN-rail mountable electricity meter for use in residential and light commercial buildings. WiFi enabled. For use with Panamonitor, mSemicon’s IoT device management platform. Also configurable to work with third party platforms.
Measurement interval is programmable. Can be used to monitor one or two currents on the same phase, such as load and generation, or general loads and electric heating. Ideally suited to research applications. Current is measured using current transformers.
What is really special about this meter is that the user can decide where the measured data is to be sent, or alternatively, can use Telemonitron’s own data services for this function.
The typical use is to monitor incoming power to a small building, but it can be used for submetering applications too. It is DIN-rail mountable, therefore it is suitable for common distribution boards.
Instantaneous power consumption along with associated parameters such as power factor, apparent power, and cumulative kWh, are reported at one regular intervals (configurable). Once the meter is paired to local wifi the data is sent to the cloud.
The AD551X family of devices were originally developed and funded as part of the Auto-DAN project, funded by the EU Commission.

These are three common use cases for the AD551X Smart Meter:
Making buildings smart ready
An easy and effective way to improve a building’s SRI (Smart Readiness Indicator) is to install a flexible user-configurable smart meter. The AD551X is precisely this. It is most cost-effective to install while a house is being built. Since the end-point is user-configurable, the data can be sent to where ever the owner of the data (i.e. the homeowner) wants it to go to.
Energy research projects
Energy projects rely on ready access to immediate and frequent measured power data. This sort of information is not usually available from common utility energy meters. The AD551X solves this accessibility issue by measuring all the main power parameters and relaying them immediately over wifi and internet. Furthermore, it does so without imposing obligations on users to pay for cloud services if their own alternative arrangements have been made.
Note that Telemonitron is an active participant in EU and national energy research projects and would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with partners on more such projects, especially where the AD551X or a derivative thereof could contribute.
Commercial and industrial applications
It is becoming a legal obligation to monitor energy usage at lower and lower power levels in commercial and industrial applications. Individual machines and equipment increasingly need to be monitored. A simple solution for this is the AD551X which allows the plant manager to monitor whatever part of a building is of interest and integrate the measured data without much complication into the corporate building management systems.
Further models of the AD551X are being planned. These will include a LoRa based model as well as a wireless MODBUS version as well.
