Wastebin Monitor
Wastebin Monitor
There are usually many public wastebins on the typical collection route of a local authority. Some are always full, others sometimes full, and others rarely full. Yet, they all need to be serviced regularly. Only when the bin collector reaches the bin is the true fill status known. Frequently the bins are not full, nor even close.
It is possible now to avoid wasteful trips to bins that are not full, and instead concentrate on servicing more bins over a wider area, all using the same resources. What is required is the Telemonitron Wastebin Monitor! This device detects, at regular intervals throughout the day and night, the fill status of an ordinary bin, and relays this information to Telemonitron’s Panamonitor server for display to the operator. An optimum collection route is then created, where all relevant information – including from unmonitored bins – is aggregated.
This type of system has been shown to save between 20% and 30% of trips. It results in better use of equipment, greater productivity of collection systems, and lower fuel costs per kilo collected. Furthermore, it allows for the placement of wastebins at less busy locations, such as housing estates, in the knowledge that they will be serviced when necessary, but infrequently.
There is no need for a special wastebin. The monitor can be adapted to most standard bins, and often retrofitted.
